HISTORY: Louis was a streetwise youth that worked very hard at finding ways to not have to work very hard. Louis’ girlfriend at the time was a member of the cult and had brought Louis to meet the elders in hopes of getting him to join. The elders were taken by the boys charm and charisma & decided that rather than having him join, he should lead them. They held him and proceeded to use shards of Nubian crystalline in connection with an arcane ritual, whose goal was to bring into the boy, the spirit of their god. He was rescued at the last possible moment by a quartet of teenaged do-gooders who called themselves Black Guard.

Black Guard was led by Louis’ best friend, the man who would later be known as “Gravitas”. The rescue was not wholly successful as the cult was able to inadvertently transfer some of the essence trapped in the crystalline shards into Louis. Louis began to develop telepathic & telekinetic abilities, and rechristened himself as Darkside. Initially, he used these powers for mischief. Skipping classes, sneaking into movies, etc. At some point Darkside began to believe that the world would be a better place if he were in charge. And thus began his career on the opposite side of the hero line.
Most did not give too much credence to Louis’ plans for world conquest until he was fused together with another version of himself from an alternate reality who called himself Darkreign. Darkreign managed to lock the entire city inside an impenetrable dome of dark energy and wasn’t even threatened by various hero’s efforts to stop him. That was, until a coalition of heroes and enemies alike combined to storm Darkreign’s floating stronghold and forcibly tear the two Louis’ apart.
Darkside remained considerably weaker on the power front for some time. He resulted to using bits of the shard and equipment created by the gods (or evils) to augment what power he had left. He journeyed into space to retrieve the cloak of Eclipse, added a shard of the Crystalline to the hilt of his sword and wore a ring containing a piece of the fuse to help him focus his abilities.
Darkside would eventually return to his previous power level. It is unknown what long term effects the Darkreign incident has had on him. It is speculated that he may retain some of the power and negative influences stemming from the time they spent as one. Only time will tell.

Personality: Louis is a somewhat arrogant figure, with a strong megalomaniacal bent. He wants to take over the world but understands this is a daunting task, so he has a somewhat long view of this goal. His friendship with Gravitas has encouraged him to often work on the side of the righteous despite his personal ambitions. He has a good heart but a drive for more. It is often speculated that this desire to rule the world is merely something to give his life purpose as he would find it too boring to take up superheroing. To date he has made very few actual, serviceable attempts at ruling the world. Lou is wily and manipulative figure who often attempts to seduce others into working for him. He is very sneaky and has a passion for collecting artifacts and objects of power that will further his quests.

BUILD: Darkside is a somewhat thin and wiry guy. His armor makes him look more bulky than he actually is.

EQUIPMENT: A dark black hooded “Cloak of Eclipse” that aids him in focusing his abilities. It responds to his thoughts and assists him in teleportation and levitation. A light Body Armor, a short curved Sword he holds in a sheath on the small of his back, and Helmet w/ full facial covering. He also has been known to use a collapsible Bo staff

POWERS AND ABILITIES: Telepath and telekinetic. His powers are of a similar manifestation of the powers that Dark force have, though largely telekinetic in nature. He has an aura of dark energy that can be seen during times of major power-up or with spectrum tuned glasses. Can psychically lift approx 500lbs (highest limit tested). Uses displacement of aura to create physical energy ball, shield or wall. Can access plane of Dark astral energy of which he has full control. In this place he can look in on anyone who has been touched by his aura bursts. Also allows him limited teleportation using those people he has touched as a homing signal.
